iPhone Water Damage
If you’re reading this article then chances are that you’ve already dropped your iPhone into the water or you’re just being cautious. Or you care about information on your phone (photos, call recording, phone numbers, etc.) Either way, we’ve to go with the right solution for you. Now, this is non a bulletproof solution and depending on how long your iPhone was in the water, this procedure may or may not work. If it doesn’t work then take your iPhone to your nearest iPhone repair shop and get the experts to look into it. Anyway, without further ado, let us give you the step-by-step guide to fixing your water-damaged iPhone.
Take the iPhone out of the water and turn it off IMMEDIATELY by pressing the power button and swiping to Shut Down or by pressing both the Home and Power buttons together.
Once the iPhone is Turned Off, wipe it off with a cloth of tissue
Next, remove the SIM card
Then give the iPhone a few SOFT SHAKES to get rid of any remaining moisture
Get a sealable plastic bag or an air-tight plastic container and fill it with Rice (yes, the rice you eat :))
Now cover the iPhone with rice and seal the bag or container properly so that air can’t get it. This will help get rid of the moisture.
Leave the iPhone in the rice for a couple of days.
Take out the iPhone and turn it on. Unless you’re ‘unlucky’ your iPhone should start working fine. If it doesn’t then as suggested earlier, take it to your nearest repair shop and get the damage assessed and fixed.
Please note, do NOT try to charge your iPhone at any point until you’ve taken it out of the pack of rice. If you do then the water inside might damage your iPhone pretty quickly.
