The Horse Is Alive

Updated: Aug 1, 2019

There’s an old term that gets thrown around: Beating a dead horse. It’s been used quite often towards me whenever I discuss the issue of Interfaith Dialogues (IFD). However, if you understand the actual definition of the term, you will see that it does not apply to this situation.

If you look up the term on Urban Dictionary, you will see that the definition is “Attempting to reopen a topic or subject that is already resolved.” Now, the question is, has the Interfaith Dialogue issue already been resolved?

Just the other day, I shared that a new episode of my podcast, Conversations with Jeff, would be released on Friday. My guest would be Pastor Steve Camp. I shared that the topics that we’ll discuss in this two hour interview would be Interfaith Dialogue, The Revoice Conference and Amillenialism. Well, Dr James White and Co caught wind of this and went on the attack. But here’s the interesting thing: Dr White announced that he is going to schedule a second IFD with Muslim Imam Yasir Qadhi. So, simply by taking a look at the definition, you’ll see that this is not a resolved issue.

Why does this matter so much? For the same reason why truth matters so much. God gives us commands and instructions in His Word. We are supposed to obey them.

Jesus gave us Matthew 18 for how to deal with sin issues within the church. That is not what we are dealing here. What we are dealing with here is a pastor who is publicly setting an example of something that clearly disobeys 2 John 7-11, among other passages.

Now, I know that Dr White believes that Mr Qadhi is not a false teacher because he doesn’t claim to be a Christian. However, I dealt with that in this article, so I would highly recommend taking a look at why Islamic religious leaders are, by biblical definition, false teachers. If they are false teachers, then 2 John 7-11 does, in fact, apply.

Why does it matter if Dr White continues to participate in these Interfaith Dialogues? Besides just the simple fact that they are unbiblical, he is also setting an example for others to follow. Dr White, himself, is one of the reasons why many within the Reformed evangelical church are now holding to the belief that IFDs are the right way to “evangelize.”

Whether you agree with me or not, I hope that you understand that I am not beating a dead horse. That’s an impossibility. Why? Because the horse is alive and well, kicking and screaming, and is coming back for more.
