That title seems like an oxymoron. Grace’s pattern of attacking the enemy. How can Grace attack? How can Grace have an enemy? Oh wait, it’s because we are talking about Grace To You, the corporation, not grace the free and unmerited favor of God that He extended to us while we were still enemies. We’ve seen this despicable behavior in action a couple of times recently, including during the Interfaith Dialogue (IFD) debate.
After Brannon Howse exposed Mr. Jim White for having an IFD w/ a Muslim Imam, Phil Johnson interjected himself into the debate. Apparently, Brannon was using a John MacArthur sermon about 2 Corinthians 6 and using that to explain why we should not enter into a spiritual enterprise w/ a non-Christian by participating in an IFD. During an email exchange with me, Phil said that he jumped into the discussion because he felt that Brannon was applying JMac’s sermon incorrectly. So, naturally, Phil took the opportunity to correct Brannon’s “misunderstanding” in a loving, pastoral way, right? Nope!
What Phil did instead is personally attack Brannon’s entire ministry! With comments like “What pastor hasn’t Brannon attacked?” (paraphrase), we saw a bitter, vengeful attack on Brannon that continued for months. Then the rest of Grace To You & Grace Community Church fell into place and followed Phil’s lead.
What I’ve seen from the Grace staff is an attempt to completely destroy Brannon Howse, his ministry, and those supporting him. What I am going to do over the next several posts is show exactly how this was done and explain why this is so hypocritical.
This perception on responding to people is simply wrong and unbiblical. Ephesians 4:15 says that we are supposed to be “speaking the truth in love.” For being a ministry called Grace To You, I’ve seen very little grace.
I will lay out the tweets and comments from Grace To You staff members that I find so appalling. Sadly, this seems to be a consistent theme. I hope that someone on staff will wake up and realize that this kind of behavior and mentality is simply wrong and unbiblical, and I hope that they will make a change.
